How I removed ads on my Kindle for free

Ads have never been more prevalent in our digital lives than they are in 2025. According to reporting by Digital Silk, the average consumer sees between 4,000 and 10,000 ads a day, which is a truly staggering number. If you are looking to make a dent in that number by removing ads from your Kindle, the easiest way to do that is to log in to your Amazon account, and then follow this process:

  1. Go to the Manage Your Devices page.
  2. Select Devices, and then select your Kindle.
  3. Scroll down to the Details section and then under Special Offers, you’ll see a button that says Remove Offers.
  4. A pop-up window will then appear that notifies you that there is a $20 fee for removing ads
  5. Select End Offers and Pay the Fee to proceed. Your card on file will immediately be charged, so be sure you want to do this before pressing the button.

Though this process is fairly straightforward, if you have jailbroken your Kindle, there’s another way to remove ads that you can take advantage of.

Download the KindleForge alternative app store

This is essential for any jailbroken device

KindleForge app

If you have already gone through the jailbreaking process, one of the first things you should do with your newly-liberated device is to get KindleForge on your device. The process is fairly straightforward, and you can check out DammitJeff’s video tutorial (skip to 10:40) to learn how to access this new app store on your device.

If you already have KindleForge on your Kindle but aren’t seeing this option, tap the three dots at the top of the screen to update the app and reboot your Kindle. You may have to do this a few times for the option to load.

Find Toggle ADs and run the script

You’re only a few taps away from ad liberation

Script running on a Kindle

Now that you have access to KindleForge, tap on the book and scroll down until you see a box that says Toggle ADs. Tap Install Application and then return to your home screen. You should see a new book icon that says Toggle ADs. Tap the new book, and then an ad-blocking script will automatically run. You’ll see some text, and then the Kindle will reboot automatically. When it does, the ads will be gone, and you’ll just see some artwork or your book cover the next time you put your Kindle to sleep.

You can tap on the book again to reenable ads if you would like, and another script will run and your Kindle will reboot again.
