This microwave isn’t heating leftovers

When I rebuilt my gaming PC last year with a Ryzen 7800X3D and an RTX 4080, I thought I had finally assembled my dream gaming setup. But now I worry I might have a new dream PC build after seeing the custom PC the folks at SignalRGB have created inside a microwave.

Yes, you read that right — a microwave.

SignalRGB modified a microwave into an all-in-one PC, with its motherboard, GPU, and AIO all housed inside. Even better, SignalRGB also turned the microwave’s window into a display for the PC, so you don’t even need an external monitor to play games (via Tom’s Hardware). The display also features video passthrough, allowing you to see the PC’s components inside the microwave when you’re not gaming, and the motherboard even rotates on its turntable. As shown in the video above, the microwave PC features several notable design elements, including the ability to boot from the microwave’s keypad, which has been replaced with a mounted Stream Deck, and the AIO being mounted and recessed on the right side of the microwave’s wall to improve airflow. Notably, the microwave PC is equipped with an impressive amount of RGB lighting, which is fitting given that it’s made by a company specializing in controlling and synchronizing RGB lighting on PCs.

Despite all the PC’s components being packed into a microwave, it boasts some impressive specs, including an Intel Core Ultra 5 255 CPU, an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPU, 48GB of RAM, a 2TB SSD, and a 1100W power supply. This allows the PC to run all the latest games smoothly, such as Battlefield 6, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, ARC Raiders, and, of course, benchmarking classics like Crysis 3.

SignalRGB isn’t selling its custom-built microwave PC, but it is giving it away for free. If you want a chance to win the PC, valued at around $2,000, you can check out the contest on SignalRGB’s website.

This isn’t the first time SignalRGB has turned a kitchen appliance into a PC. Earlier this year, it converted a toaster into a gaming PC, which was equipped with an RTX 5060 and an i5-14600K.

Personally, if there’s one appliance I think would make the most sense to convert into a gaming PC, it would be a mini-fridge. They have plenty of space inside, and they’re already cold. It seems like a win-win to me.
